IS THE BLOG WORKING?

Salutation’s reader,

If you are fan of science You Tube, you must be familiar with the science channel “kurzgesagt: in a nutshell”. What makes kurzgesagt relevant to today’s post? Kurzgesagt has a series of self-evaluation videos where they evaluate the work they are doing. So today I am going to create my own self-evaluation post for the “BEING HUMAN” blog.

So “IS THE BLOG WORKING?” that’s the question for today but how can we measure the efficiency of a blog talking about the human condition. For me the best way for me the author to measure this, is by evaluating my goals for creating this blog.

So, in my post “WHY THE BLOG?”, I explained the purpose for writing this blog.  To go straight to the point, the main reason for this blog’s existence is to just discuss the various themes of the human condition using philosophical and scientific means.

With that in mind, in the last 3 months, I was able to create 12 posts and 9 of them explored various themes of the human condition. Here are some of these posts and their respective subject matter:

So since I explored 9 themes of the human condition, the blog sounds like a total succeso since I was able to explore 9 themes of the human condition, the blog seems like a success but I also intended to create a discussion among my peers and incite thought into the minds of many on the human condition. In short, I also aimed for people to think about themselves and what they experience everyday in a new light. How can I measure this aspect of the blog’s mission?

I can use the data I receive from my blogger account to try to measure this aspect of my blog. So throughout my 12 blog posts I got 238 reads. That’s sounds decent to the least but compared to the 533 views of my blog, it seems people do not read the articles themselves. So the blog is not in that good of shape on it’s own. How about comments and direct messages, So in that front I got 19 comments from the blog and multiple direct messages from my discord, Instagram and email. But excluding direct messages from my discord and discussions from the EXURB1A discord server, all other messages are praise on the work and the blog rather than discussion on the subject matter.

The praise is a big confident boost and it is appreciated but I would love more discussions on the subject matter. So the blog is doing average and it has room for improvement. How can I improve the blog? So I, the author has some changes expected to come in the near future of this blog.

These changes include the following;

1.    MORE EMPHASIS ON THE STORIES PAGE.

On my “THANK YOU FOR READING” post, I introduced the STORIES page, a page of the blog where people can share stories on the various themes of the human condition whether personal or a simple narration on their beliefs and philosophical standing. This was meant to increase “the human touch” to understanding ourselves. Although the page has no posts until now, I intend to increase more stories in the stories page.

2.    MORE VIDEO POSTS ON THE BLOG.

Reading can be boring but that’s the main medium of conveying ideas in this blog. I want to change this by introducing video posts and logs to the blog. Video can be more interactive and less boring.

3.    BRANCHING OUT TOWARDS OTHER PLATFORMS.

Until now the only platform I have been using my website as the only way to discuss the human condition but I want to branch out to other platforms. Maybe branching out towards You Tube or Instagram or even creating a discord server to discuss various themes of the human condition.

4.    INVOLVING MORE PEOPLE IN THE BLOG.

This blog until now has been a one man show. I have done the research, writing and summarization. More hands on the blog would improve the efficiency of the blog. So to conclude the blog is doing just okay but I believe it can do more, so I hope it can go even further and incite philosophical thought in even more people with me included.

REFLECTING ON MY MORTALITY Black, eerie, quiet, scary, nothing, etc, these are words that pop up in my head everytime I think of death. As humans we live with the knowledge that we will die, cease to exist, kick the bucket and whatever you like to call it but we live as if we won’t die. We continue to live our lives like this won’t happen until something reminds us that we will die. I, like most humans, also live this way, without a single thought of death but recently something reminded me of our grim end. A month ago, a friend of mine took his own life, something I can’t comprehend to this day. I was shocked, to be honest, who wouldn’t be shocked by that sort of news. DO WE HAVE TO FIGHT?: THE STORY OF CONFLICT “Brian”, I yelled as stared at my young brother’s dead body. The murderer ran away from the scene of the crime. I was in tears until I woke up. It was all a nightmare. Dearest reader, above was a simple narration of the dream I had yesterday. It ended in young brother’s murder. It was unpleasant and scary just to summarize. I couldn’t go back to sleep. The reason for young brother’s death in the dream was a land conflict between my dad and a neighbor. My young brother is ok in real life if you are worried about him. After the nasty nightmare I started to think why would someone do that because of a land conflict. Most would have mistaken the dream for not being real but dreams project real life situations.
